Stopped here on a road trip. What a great find! Cozy bar with live music on the weekends. Chris was knowledgable and took great care of us. Definitely worth the stop.

After our stop at Prairie Berry, we decided to check out Miner Brewing Company. When we arrived, I noticed they had several great beers to choose from, which are about $6 a pint glass. They also have a tasting of 6 beers (which they choose) for $8. You can also get a single sample for $1.50. We decided to go with their 6 beers and then also tried an Oatmeal Stout and the Mango Cream Ale. My husband drank most of the beers since I was the DD, so I can only comment on the Oatmeal Stout and the Mango Cream Ale. I enjoyed the Oatmeal Stout, but LOVED the Mango Cream Ale. I'm not a light beer person, but this might be my favorite lite beer I have ever tried. It was super refreshing and had such a great mango aftertaste. In addition to good beer, they have quite a variety of seating, as well as lots of games around to play. My husband and I really enjoyed playing both cribbage and Jenga while we were there. While I didn't try any of them, they also serve pan pies here. Finally, they donate $1 from each pint of Unite Red Ale to Well Aware, a clean drinking foundation (which is fantastic). In sum, I'm really glad we stopped by!

I was in the area and had heard about this place previously so knew I had to stop by. They had quite a few beers on tap when I was there and do offer flights. I was driving a long haul so could only try a few. The Belgian Dubbel was my favorite! One thing I noticed at this place is that they put the date of the last line cleaning on the tap list. Super cool and let's you know you're drinking from clean lines! This place is absolutely worth stopping by if you're in the area!

No secret how I feel about this place, but it's like the perfect soul mate. It's got it all! Atmosphere, AMAZING staff, location, and ....beer! Oh yes, the beer. But my new favorite the sour beer Wild Plum Farmhouse. Great place to stop, great place to come back to. It's on my list of ABSOLUTE favorites.

My dear Miner, I wish you weren't an 8 hour drive from my house, or I might just be sneaking out on the weekends to cheat on my local craft breweries with you! Armed with a taste for adventure and thirst for good beer, I jumped in the car with Island Boy this past weekend and plugged the Black Hills into the GPS. Leaving the familiar craft beer mecca of Minnesota for the uncharted South Dakota beer landscape was a little nerve racking, but our thirst was soon quenched. While the quality of beer in the Black Hills is above average as a whole, Miner was a standout. We stopped by shortly after they opened on the 4th of July (yes, we were drinking before noon...but hey, we were celebrating the birth of a nation!). We started with their festive Red, White + Blue flight special, which consisted of an Irish Red Ale, a White IPA and a Blue IPA. All three were great, but the Blue IPA with its subtle blueberry flavor and mild hoppiness was downright delicious! It was a beautiful {hot} day, so their covered patio area was a great reprieve from the sun, and their variety of games, which includes oversized Jenga, kept us entertained while sipping our beer. Since we enjoyed our flight so much and were wildly entrenched in a game of Connect Four, we decided to get a couple pints. They had a total of 8 beers on tap, which made it difficult to decide, but they allowed us to sample a few of them to make the decision a bit easier. They recently released their first ever sour beers, which caught my eye, but unfortunately they don't offer any tastes of those (only 8 oz. pours). The bar man managed to sell me on the Strawberry Bieres de Garde though (a sour with a mild fruit flavor). We also opted for the Gose (a light wheat beer), and then ordered up a hand pie to soak up all the alcohol...err hold us over 'til lunch. The pie of the day was jalapeño popper--spicy and creamy, served with a side of jam, and so damn tasty we nearly ordered a second one! We could have seriously hung around all afternoon, but alas, we had places to be...so after our glasses were empty, Island Boy had to admit Connect Four defeat and we were off with a growler of Blue IPA in hand :) The fellas behind the bar were friendly and knowledgeable, and we were fortunate to talk MN beer with one of them (Casey) who used to live in the Twin Cities. They were happy to sanitize and fill up a growler we brought (and good thing too, because their growlers would have set us back $10, unlike the $5-6 in MN). If we lived nearby, we'd surely be regulars...and not only for the great beer and service, but because they allow pooches too! I'm really hoping they start to bottle or can in the near future so we can enjoy their brews a little closer to home...otherwise I may have to drag Island Boy across the border again soon!

This is a fun place! I love how they have a lot of different seating, so you can sit inside if you want or outside. The beer was really good as well. We actually visited twice during our short time in South Dakota for a family vacation. :)

We were in a family trip and my husband and I love craft beer. Decided to stop here for a quick beer and so glad we did. Staff was super friendly and the beer was delish! If you love craft beer then you definitely need to stop here!

We were expecting the same hospitality as prairie berry winery since they are owned by the same family, but did not get that kind of experience. Our server did not seem interested in beer or customers. When we asked if we could get their specialty flavors in the 4oz glass the same as the flight the only answer we got was no they only come in 8oz. Our server, Rose, was not interested in asking us if we had been there before or explaining any of the beers and when asked about the specialty brews her only reply was that we couldn't get them in anything but 8oz glasses. The beer was good but the hospitality was beyond poor. There was a reason why we bought 8 bottles of wine but no beer other than the flight.

I've been to Miner Brewing Company twice and had great experiences both times! I enjoyed the flight, a 6 beer sampler, and also got the pan dish pizza(?) I can't remember the name, but we called them pizza sacks and think the name should be changed. The pizza sack was delicious! It was jalapeño, cream cheese, and bacon wrapped in a puff pastry like a calzone and served with the kick ass compote from prairie berry next door. Can't say enough! Super delicious, fun atmosphere, I enjoyed the Irish red after my sampler and it was tasty! It's awesome to find these great places in South Dakota!

We're craft beer connoisseurs! This place makes really good beer! My husband and I sampled a couple of different beers each and we shared what each of us had ordered. We will most certainly visit this place again next time we're in South Dakota! This is coming from someone who lives in Colorado where there is more craft breweries per capita than anywhere in the USA right now!

This place is very clean, has lots of seating and does beer very well. I tried the wheat, blue IPA, rye IPA and the IIPA. The first three were very well done, the last needs a little work in opinion. Overall a great place, nice people and lots of games to play. Didn't try the food, but wanted to.

There's something special about discovering a gem before its time. Imagine if you were among the first visitors to the Coca-cola factory or watched Jack Nicholson in his first stage play centuries ago. That's how we felt at Miners. So good so soon and so much upside to go. We have been on a cross country brewery tour and even when matched up with such heavyweights like Troegs, 3 Floyds, or Against the Grain this place holds its own. Incredible pilsner and Irish red. Love the fact that it stays under 60 IBUs even in its IPA. Hops are delicious, not a competition. Come here, go wine tasting and munching next door at Prairie Berry, and have an awesome day.

So we're bit snobby about beer and love discovering new microbreweries. We stopped by on a whim after visiting the next door winery and we're not disappointed. The interior is decorated well and they have a lot of outdoor seating with some nice views We had the seasonal Pumpkin Porter and Oktoberfest and YOU MUST TRY THE OKTOBERFEST!! One of the best oktoberfests I've had. Some people here thought the beer was too expensive, but I found them to be standard ( $5 for a flagships, $6 for seasonals)

The atmosphere here is great, very relaxed and fun community vibe. The beer wasn't quite as great. They allocate which of the beers you get in your taster, which I think is a bummer! Most breweries allow you to pick your lot, maybe there are a few you have to pay more for, but generally you get your pick. The ones that were chosen for us were decent but nothing stood out. The mango cream had decent flavor but lacked body. I think probably the brown was the better in the batch. The other thing that was a little off putting was when we asked to taste the sour beers. We were told they do not do tasters of the sours because they're small batches and it isn't cost effective for them to do tasters because everyone wants that. We were even offering to pay just for a small amount between the two, to then decide which to order a 8oz of. They still refused and said we would have to get the full glass. This just isn't great business our minds! Even more of a bummer was that the sour we ended up buying wasn't quite a traditional sour and we weren't big fans. Like I said, vibe was good here but we won't be back for beers.

A gem of a find in the black hills - good range of beers, but the pilsner and IPAs standout as great. Not everything is a home run, but it is clear they are not taking any shortcuts on the brewing process either. There were no cloudy beers being rushed through the tanks and everything had a nice crisp flavor. The flight we enjoyed was their light, pilsner, wheat, IPA 2, oatmeal stout, IPA 3. They should not waste their time or tank space on the light again, while the IPAs were a great balance of flavor, hops and nuance - no hop-bomb here - just solid IPAs. The IPA 3 was bigger, bit still managed a great balance. As a frequent visitor if breweries locally in Minnesota and around the country on occasion, Miner is already solid and has lots of upside.

Being from Colorado I can say this a darn good microbrewery. The pilsner blew me away - and I don't get blown away by pilsners. Awesome wheat. Next time I'm in SD I'll be here, and hopefully they'll have the beer garden done. Great views and lovely old-growth-forest mill (tree death) scents. And the wine-lovers can go next door and taste for free.

My wife and I love microbreweries, and we love IPA beers. Maybe that's why we were so disappointed here. It's rare to find a microbrewery selling their own beer for more than $4-$5 a pint, but we were charged $6 per. That would have been OK if the beer were great (or even good), but it wasn't. In fact it was one of the worst IPAs we've ever had. It tasted like a Budweiser coming out of dirty tap lines. There was absolutely no hint (aroma or taste) of hops. And we're not the only ones. A woman down the bar complained about hers as well. Perhaps their other beers are better, but we won't be back to find out. Lastly, the bartender was evidently told that a beer head should occupy 1/3 of the glass. He poured our glasses (tilted) until they were 2/3 full, and then raised them upright and rapidly moved the tap handle back and forth until nothing but foam came out to fill the glass. It did nothing to enhance our experience.
